Update Log
1.43 — Workshop polish
Latest24 September 2026
- · The Gnarp PC is now a proper 3D desktop setup with a monitor, glowing screen, stand, keyboard, tower, vents and power light.
- · Small desktop models sit flush on table surfaces instead of hovering above them.
- · Common terrain, stone, wood and utility textures use cleaner 16×16 clusters with less visual static, and normal leaves no longer have a brown centre dot.
- · The recipe book has its own icon, and oak, pine and willow planks now craft matching-colour crafting tables.
1.42 — Brightwork
24 September 2026
- · Shader levels keep their stronger contrast and local light pools without turning daytime terrain into a black silhouette.
- · Block textures have crisper pixel-scale material detail while staying on the original 16×16 grid.
- · Wall torches now have a connected stepped handle, iron wall plate and correctly projected flame in every direction.
- · Carpets are proper thin floor models with fully woven tops instead of broken transparent cubes.
1.41 — Torchlight
24 September 2026
- · Shader levels now create genuinely dark nights and interiors, with cool shadows, warm highlights and bright pools around torches, fire, lava and crystals.
- · Every block still uses crisp 16×16 art, now with richer colour, cleaner pixel clusters, carved edges and material depth that reacts to lighting.
- · Wall torches now place in the correct direction and use a proper iron-backed sconce model that projects away from the wall.
- · Higher shader levels add stronger surface depth and lighting while Off remains the fastest option for slower devices.
1.40 — Forbidden shaders
23 September 2026
- · Every overworld structure is now at least three times rarer, making huts, ruined portals and Temensa's colosseums true landmarks again.
- · A suspicious red button in Graphics reveals five shader levels: Off, Potato, Cool, Epic and Ultra.
- · Shader levels progressively add richer colour, stronger depth, cinematic grading, sharper detail and real block shadows while keeping a fast Off mode.
- · Daylight, storms, fog and the Hydra Dimension now have cleaner atmosphere and more dramatic contrast.
- · First-person movement, tool swings, creature steps and idle movement are smoother without losing the chunky voxel feel.
- · The FPS counter is now a clear colour-coded performance badge, making it easier to tune the game for your device.
1.39 — Acid skies
15 September 2026
- · Temensa is far bigger and meaner: a four-metre obsidian warlord with a horned crown, spiked shoulders, clawed fists and burning eyes, 600 health, a long reach and heavy hits.
- · Arenas are now huge colosseums: a sand floor with a raised podium and champion's chest, nine rings of rising stone seating, four entrance tunnels and a tall arched outer wall lit by crystals.
- · Blocky square scope, and only on the Uranium Longshot, Alien Blaster and Storm Blaster. Every other blaster lines up over chunky iron sights.
- · Your view slows to 0.75x while aiming, and there's a new Aim look speed slider in Settings to set it yourself.
- · Styles are pure patterns now: they print across your top and leave your own legs showing, with see-through gaps in the design.
- · Fixed the purple squares on the Trumpet, and Manta Ray spawn eggs finally have proper artwork.
- · Swords, axes, pickaxes and shovels are held handle-down with the business end pointing up, the way you'd actually carry them.
- · Terrain no longer throws up sheer walls where two areas meet, areas are smaller so you cross several on a walk, and there is far more open ocean.
- · Colosseums are back to being a rare landmark, about as uncommon as huts and ruined portals, so finding one still means something.
- · Chests look right from every side now, with iron bands down the sides and the latch only on the front.
- · Much better chest loot: boss and Hydra chests hold Hydra Shards, lava, water and new Acid Buckets, diamonds, uranium and potions, and the champion's chest can hide diamond armour, a crown or the Eternal Hydra Sword.
- · New Acid Bucket: scoop up Hydra lava and pour it wherever you like.
- · Friendly fire is now proper player-vs-player: switch it on and players can hurt each other. Animals and pets are no longer part of it.
- · The Hydra Dimension gets green lava pools, glowing green waterfalls pouring off the islands, cold green fire and constant acid rain that burns you unless you find cover.
- · Hold the place button to keep laying blocks down instead of clicking for each one.
- · Sandbox flight: double-tap jump to take off, hold jump to rise, crouch to sink, double-tap again to land — and sprinting more than doubles your speed.
- · New Temensa spawn eggs in sandbox, a proper boss roar, wingbeats while flying and a hiss when acid rain lands.
- · Your world now saves the moment you open a menu, plus a quiet background save every few seconds so a crash or a closed tab costs you almost nothing.
1.38 — Brass and optics
15 September 2026
- · Swords, pickaxes, axes and shovels are proper 3D models in your hand instead of flat pictures.
- · New Trumpet, crafted from 4 iron ingots and a stick: hold interact to play, and look higher or lower to slide the note up and down while it sounds.
- · Every blaster now has its own optic. Aiming a long-range one fills the screen with a scope and zooms right in; sidearms only steady the crosshair.
- · Guns renamed: the Glock is the Metal Blaster, the Iron Pistol is the Light Blaster, the Alien SMG is the Alien Blaster, and so on.
- · Fits are replaced by Styles: bold abstract patterns — Checkerboard, Zigzag, Wavelength, Bubbles, Sunburst, Neon Grid, Splatter, Harlequin, Spiral, Colour Bars, Hex Weave, Glitch and Orbit. Crew and owner outfits stay.
- · School-friendly wording throughout, with cleaner item names and no rude words.
- · Faster, smoother world loading: chunks are built to a time budget so the frame rate stays steady while new land appears.
1.37 — Wear and tear
15 September 2026
- · Tools and weapons now wear out: 70 uses on wooden, 180 on stone, 500 on iron and 1,600 on diamond, with a bar on the item once it starts to go.
- · Sleeker inventory with Building, Gear, Food and Misc tabs, and the recipe book tucked behind a small crafting icon so nothing is squished.
- · Sandbox worlds break blocks instantly, never wear tools out, and hide the health and hunger bars completely.
- · Dropped items now fly away from you, so you have to walk over and pick them back up.
- · New Achievements tab in Quests: 39 permanent goals that never reset and pay out Gnarpmoney plus cosmetics and texture packs.
- · New Help button in the top-left corner: a full guide to movement, controls, mobs, tools and the world.
- · Smoother frame rate all round, with lighter particles and fewer dropped items tracked at once.
1.36 — Temensa awakens
15 September 2026
- · Arena structures now appear during long expeditions, and approaching one awakens its 240-health Temensa boss exactly once.
- · Five new Fits: the otherworldly Alien Gown, Voidwalker Suit, Obsidian Knight, Mushroom Overalls and Frog Raincoat.
- · Hydra Dimension island chains are larger and much closer together, with fewer enormous gaps across the void.
1.35 — World rules & friends
15 September 2026
- · World customisation when you make a world: pick Peaceful, Easy, Normal or Hard, turn friendly fire on or off, and switch on Sandbox mode.
- · Difficulty changes everything: Peaceful has no monsters and no damage, Easy halves their hits, Hard sends more of them at you and they swing faster and harder.
- · Friendly fire off means cows, sheep, chickens, manta rays and tamed skeletons can't be hurt by your swings or shots.
- · Sandbox worlds give you every item and spawn egg, flight by double-tapping jump, and no damage or hunger.
- · Much better terrain: ridged mountain ranges, rolling plateaus, winding rivers that run down to the sea and gentler beaches.
- · Ores rebalanced: coal is easy to find, while iron, diamond, uranium and alien rock are far rarer.
- · Play with friends: tap + beside anyone in the Community Board's active accounts, then use Join friends in Multiplayer to drop straight into the world they're on.
1.34 — Arms, fits & prints
11 September 2026
- · Themes are now called Arms, and they only tint your arms — your face, shirt and trousers stay exactly as you set them, in first person and to everyone else.
- · Fits never change your skin colour any more, and sleeved outfits actually have sleeves: hoodie, Hawaiian shirt, tuxedo, chef whites, camo jacket, crew jacket, bolt racer and both owner outfits.
- · Written designs on the fits: printed slogans across the chest, from ALOHA and COSY to NO RULES, RECON, EAGLES and PRIME.
- · New Graphics quality bar in Settings: one slider from Fastest to Prettiest that sets resolution, view distance, lighting and effects together.
- · Blocks behind you are no longer drawn, which frees up a lot of speed on phones and laptops.
1.33 — Fits & warmer world
9 September 2026
- · Fits: a whole new Customisation tab of full outfits, not just colours — Grey Hoodie, Hawaiian Shirt, Tuxedo, Hi-Vis Vest, Chef Whites, Camo Jacket, Heart Tee and Skull Tee, each drawn on your character's chest.
- · Worker-only fits: the Gnarp Crew Jacket and the Bolt Racer jersey. Owner-only fits: the Royal Robe and the Prime Suit. LincosTuff keeps his Eagles Singlet and footy hat.
- · Fits have their own section in the Gnarpmarket with a full-body preview before you spend anything.
- · Warmer, livelier blocks: grass, dirt, stone, cobblestone, sand, planks, logs, leaves, gravel, snow and water all got richer colours, softer highlights and finer speckle, so the world stops looking like an old computer game.
- · Picture quality now adjusts itself when the frame rate dips and distant scenery is drawn more cheaply, so slower devices stay smooth.
- · Settings scrolls on any screen and has a Back button at the top as well as the bottom.
1.32 — Alien smelting
31 August 2026
- · Alien Furnaces: craft one uranium furnace surrounded by eight Alien Rocks. No fuel, 4x smelting speed and three ores smelting side by side.
- · Double Doors: put two doors together in the crafting grid. They place as a 2x2 pair and swing open and shut together, and two doors built beside each other now open as a pair too.
- · Every wood is equal: any planks or logs work in every wood recipe, so pine and willow build exactly what oak does, just with their own textures.
- · Stuck in a block while building? You can now simply walk out of it instead of breaking it, and you no longer drop through the floor into the void.
- · Easier quests: the daily board is ten quests with gentle warm-up goals like 15 blocks mined, 5 minutes played or one diamond.
- · More owner-only gear: Magma, Tide, Prism, Eclipse and Phantom themes, five winged capes plus a Star Cloak, and a gold crown, halo, flame crown and glowing visor.
1.31 — Deep water
24 August 2026
- · Torches are real multi-part models now: a carved wooden stick with its own separate glowing flame, on the floor and on walls.
- · Glass is a thin pane, and its flat face turns towards you when you place it — same as furnaces and the Gnarp PC, which finally faces you too.
- · Chests swing their lid open with a creak and clack it shut when you close them.
- · Manta rays glide through the oceans. Leave them be and they drift past; hurt one and it turns and stings. Kill one for Manta Fins.
- · Tame a skeleton by clicking it with a bone: it gets a gold bow and crown, snipes hostile mobs twice as fast for double damage, and follows you while you hold a bone.
- · New woods: dark Pine Logs with bright white leaves in snowy biomes and pale Willow in swamps, each with their own planks.
- · Ores, caves and structures are all rarer, so a diamond is worth something again.
- · The community board now lists every active account, oldest first, with the owner crown and worker party hat pinned to the top.
1.30 — Refresh
22 August 2026
- · Gnarpmoney: a new currency you earn by completing quests.
- · New Quests button on the title screen (mobile/PC control switching moved to a link underneath) with ten quests tracking blocks mined and placed, crafting, mob kills, diamonds, meals, deaths and playtime.
- · Skin is now Customisation, with a Gnarpmarket button for buying skins, head and face gear, themes, capes and texture packs.
- · Texture packs change every block, item and icon in the game and on the title screen: Frostbite, Neon Circuit, Old Gnarp, Retro 8-Bit and Dreamsicle.
- · Every skin has a permanent quirk — sashes, spines, tails, ribs, fins, medals and more — that themes can never hide, so no two skins look the same.
- · Buckets, the Hunger Helmet, potato launchers, miniguns, block miniguns and the poison hydra gun are all craftable or buyable.
- · Owner and worker exclusives stay pass-only and are never for sale.
1.29 — High-tech & saved servers
20 August 2026
- · Torches are proper 3D models — a standing torch on the floor and a slanted sconce when you put one on a wall — and torches, fire, lava and glow crystals now cast real light.
- · Fire is animated and no longer has a flat top face.
- · New Gnarp PC: craft or buy one, place it, then interact to open the wide Gnarp Store with autoturrets, Gnarp Clocks, timed potions (speed, strength, leap, regen) and alien armour.
- · Autoturrets guard a 10 block radius and shoot hostile mobs on sight.
- · Three new gear slots — chest, legs and boots — with full leather, iron, diamond and alien armour sets. Alien boots cancel fall damage.
- · Coordinates are big and bold in the top right, clear of the multiplayer join code, with a clock readout once you own one.
- · Servers save progress: block changes, chest contents and your own position, health, hunger, inventory and armour all persist, so you rejoin exactly where you left off.
- · Chests and backpacks are shared live in multiplayer — everyone sees the same loot.
- · Your name is remembered on this device, so you come back to the same account, skins and worlds.
- · More Gnarphone stock, including the PC, coal and the iron pistol.
- · Owner-only Ban Users page on the community board: every account ever, with a red delete button.
- · Structures are rarer again and hostile mobs spawn less often.
1.28 — Workers, servers & the armoury
18 August 2026
- · Member sign-in on the name screen: tap “Member? Click here to sign in!” and pick Owner or Worker.
- · New Worker role (party hat button on the title screen) unlocking three worker skins — Prime Skele, Fire Lord and Winner — plus the winged Fiery Cloak, and the Buster name with a party hat everywhere.
- · Five new guns: Light Blaster, Alien Blaster, Bone Scatterblaster, Uranium Longshot and the Sludge Cannon.
- · Flint and Steel is craftable and now lights fires on top of blocks — hit the fire to put it out — and combines with a sludge block into Flint and Sludge.
- · View servers: three public worlds with live 0/15 headcounts — Fun SMP, Grief & Anarchy, and Sandbox with every item, spawn eggs and creative flight (double-tap jump).
- · Backpacks: portable 15-slot storage that keeps its contents when you break it and hands them back when you place it.
- · Doors are thin and windowless, hinge on the side you place them from and swing open around a fixed hinge; trapdoors are thin panels too.
- · Flowers and tall grass are proper crossed 3D models standing in the middle of their block.
- · Structures are far rarer and hostile mobs spawn much less often.
1.26 — Structures & the Sludge Dimension
16 August 2026
- · New structures generate in the world: wooden loot huts with a stocked chest, sunken obsidian arenas, and ruined sludge portals.
- · Naturally generated chests come with loot — bread, iron, coal, diamonds, poop, flint and sometimes Flint and Sludge.
- · Flint is chipped from gravel, crafted into Flint and Steel and then Flint and Sludge.
- · Build a hollow 4x5 sludge block frame and use Flint and Sludge on it to open a portal to the Sludge Dimension: brown hills, lava lakes, glowing crystals and obsidian spires. A return portal is built for you when you arrive.
- · Six coloured beds (red, blue, green, yellow, pink, black) craftable from dyed wool, all two blocks long and all set your spawn.
1.25 — Nature & water update
15 August 2026
- · Dropped items now hover and spin calmly instead of bouncing around, and are easier to pick up from any side.
- · Water and lava got real physics: you sink slowly, sprint to swim, and lava is thick and slow.
- · Passive mobs panic and run away when you hit them.
- · Mobs can see you through glass and doors but can no longer hit you through a wall.
- · Flowers and tall grass generate naturally per biome, plus six dyes with coloured wool and carpets.
- · Mobile: move your touch controls one at a time from the mobile settings.
- · Emojis in chat get hashtagged, every page scrolls properly on mobile, and the hunger bar looks like an actual drumstick.
- · Hover or tap an item in your inventory to see its name, and the owner can now delete player names from the community board.
1.24 — Combat feedback & fixes update
14 August 2026
- · The skin and cape menu scrolls properly on PC and mobile.
- · Every mob got a model pass: horns and udders on cows, wings on chickens, ears on sheep, ribs on skeletons, a fanged abdomen on spiders and glowing alien eyes.
- · Hit a mob and it flashes red and yelps; get hit yourself and your arm flashes red, the screen shakes and you make your own hurt sound.
- · All hostile mobs spawn in caves at any hour and on the surface at night — spiders still crawl about any time of day.
- · Beds are two blocks long and doors are two blocks high, and breaking either half removes the whole thing.
- · Furnaces and uranium furnaces now show their oven face on one side only, facing you when you place them.
- · New coordinate readout with your X, Y and Z in the corner.
1.23 — Owner & cosmetics update
13 August 2026
- · Owner account: the crown button on the title screen takes an owner pass, checked only on the server, and unlocks 6 owner skins, 3 owner capes and the GnarpOwner name.
- · A crown shows next to the owner's name everywhere, and the owner can delete feedback, gnarpposts and single messages.
- · Capes! Pick one cape for your character in the skin menu; every skin also got a hat or accessory.
- · Chests and working doors and trapdoors, all craftable.
- · Eating actually works now, with chewing sounds, a hand animation and a progress bar — including on mobile.
- · Multiplayer: dropped items and mobs are now shared by everyone in the world, and player models face the right way.
- · Skeletons are ranged archers with bows and arrows.
1.03 — Community update
12 August 2026
- · Name gate before the title screen with a profanity filter.
- · New Community Board: 24 hour player list, feedback, gnarpchats and this update log.
- · Click a recipe in the crafting book to auto-fill the grid; recipes you can't afford glow red.
- · Rebuilt mobile joystick (smooth, no more stuck movement) plus mobile-only settings for look sensitivity, button size and button side.
- · Tools, swords and shovels now have proper pixel art instead of blank icons, in the inventory and in your hand.
1.02 — Multiplayer fix
11 August 2026
- · Fixed multiplayer sync: player positions, block edits and chat all come through now.
- · Added spiders, slimes and skeletons, plus new blocks and better lighting.
- · Fixed inverted W/S movement and backwards-walking cows.
